These are just a few of the horrible crimes that have been committed recently. Child molestation, rapes, drug abuse, drug dealing, drive by shootings, robberies, home break-ins, kidnappings, and murder have all increased.

To many unfortunate children in America, the summer of 2002 has been a summer of hell. Not one day has gone by where the TV news and newspapers across the land, have not reported a child getting kidnapped, sexually molested, or murdered.

This was also a year of disgrace as many Catholic Priest as well as some Protestants admitted to child molestation.

Criminals prey upon our children and upon the elderly. Innocent law abiding citizens are victims at the hands of these crime lords who are turning America’s streets into a hopeless jungle of fear. The prisons have become a joke. The criminals who are caught, are sent to prison for a few years only to lay around on their butts in their cell, having homosexual sex with their cell mates all day, watching TV and even dealing and using drugs while incarcerated. So many of the guards are afraid to take action against prisoners they catch in the act of committing these crimes for fear of the A.C.L.U (American Civil Liberties Union, but should be Atheist Communist Liberal Union) coming to the rescue of the prisoners and filing a class action lawsuit on behalf of the prisoner for violation of their “civil rights”.

I say to heck with their “rights”. They gave up their so-called “rights” when they violated the rights of law-abiding citizens. It is time for a change. I have the solution. Is it the death penalty you might ask? Yes of course, in a lot of cases. I mean, it makes no sense to keep guys like Charles Manson alive at the tax payer's expense. Why keep him alive? i mean, are you going to try and rehabilitate him? Are you going to hope to release him back into society someday? I hope you see my point. I have advocated the death penalty most of my life, however, in addition to that, now I am advocating something else for certain offenders. Tim McVeigh, mass murderer of the Oklahoma City bombing case who cold bloodedly slaughtered 168 people, including little babies, got me to thinking about something when he wrote that he was looking forward to the death penalty. McVeigh said the worst possible thing he could think of was being incarcerated for the rest of his life and he was looking forward to being put to sleep. That is exactly what happened to McVeigh. When he was put to death, he was placed on a bed and given an injection that put him to sleep and then stopped his heart while he was asleep. There was absolutely no suffering on his part when he died. The relatives of those who suffered and was buried under tons of rubble when the bomb went off in the Murrah building that McVeigh blew up, must have been appalled.

Filthy depraved sexual deviants are molesting little kids and then some panty waist judge slaps them on the wrist and turns them right back out into society after a few short months in jail and some counseling. Crimes are on the rise, including mass murder committed by serial killers as well as the rape and murder of little children because the perpetrators of these crimes have no fear of the penal system. Why should they when in reality the prisons are recreation centers where they can have sex and drugs, and sit on their sorry hides watching TV all day? Statistics show that most criminals that get out of prison return to a life of crime almost immediately. The prisons are nothing more than schools of crime where the criminals learn to be better at committing crimes from consorting with other crime lords while they are incarcerated. Forget rehabilitation because when they come out of prison they are only determined to be better criminals. Let’s face it. We are now living in a crime-ridden society. Our streets are no longer safe for our children to play on. Action must be taken now and I have the solution!

I urge you to write your Congressmen, State Lawmakers and your Governors today and demand the following law be enacted:

THE RETURN OF THE CHAIN GANGS!

We need to reform the entire prison system by bringing back those good old chain gangs. Prisons need to be a place of punishment, not recreation. If the prisoners knew they would be facing years and years of being shackled to 35 pounds of chains wrapped around their legs and being forced to do hard labor, maybe they would think twice before committing these crimes.

Look, I know that everyone that is in prison may not be career criminals. I realize that some people just make a mistake and have no intention of living a life of crime. I also realize there are some people in prison that should not be there. I speak in prisons and I know that there are some prisoners that want help and upon their release they want to be totally rehabilitated. I think that every effort needs to be made to help those who really do desire to change. I am thankful for counseling programs and for prison ministries to assist those who may not have done what they have been accused of or even just made a stupid mistake that is not all that serious.

When I advocate chain gangs, I am not talking about petty criminals. For them, another good solution would be DRILL INSTRUCTORS for first time offenders, in small misdemeanors only. Make them go to “boot camps” run by hard core Drill Instructors and chances are they will be rehabilitated for a return to society as law-abiding citizens. According to One Drill Instructor in a prison boot camp, by the name of John, 85% of 1st time offenders never return after release. That is a great rehab rate. Those Drill Instructors will PT their sorry hides and make them wish they had obeyed the law. When they are released by the D.I.'s rest assured they will be changed.

Next, there is my solution for serious crimes. Get those prisoners in chains and put to work on those chain gangs! We need to bring back the guards that wear the cowboy hats with mirrored sunglasses that hold a shotgun and have bloodhounds standing next to them. Just picture the prisoners out there working with a shovel or pick in their hands, in the hot sun, from sun up to sun down, 7 days a week, saying “Break boss?” and having the guards reply, “No break Boy! Keep working!” If the prisoner refuses to work, put him in solitary confinement in a hot box and feed him on bread and water. After a few days of those conditions, they will work! Trust me on this. We need some Wardens like in the movie “Cool Hand Luke” that is not afraid to come out and say to the prisoners, “What we have here is a failure to communicate!”

I can just hear the bleeding hearts now crying out, “That is cruel and unusual punishment!” My reply to them is, wasn’t it cruel and unusual punishment when they sexually molested the six year old child, or raped and murdered the little old lady that was 79? It is time we stopped being concerned with the rights of prisoners and started being concerned with the rights of the victims. Where is your bleeding heart when it comes to them and the victims’ families that are left without a loved one due to some sick twisted demented pedophile or murderer? Maybe they would not think of it as cruel and unusual punishment if the crimes were committed against a loved one close to them!

I promise you that if we shackle the legs of the prisoners and get them out there working on those chain gangs, the crime rate will drop dramatically. They will think twice about committing crimes if they knew that prisons were a place where hellish punishment and hard labor is dealt out instead of TV, sex, and drugs. Think of the free labor each state would get, instead of having to pay out tons of money to keep them comfortable in their cell watching TV.

I used to correspond with Susan Atkins, convicted serial killer and former member of the Manson Family. Susan was one of the ones that murdered actress Sharon Tate and others in the famed Helter-Skelter crimes perpetrated by maniacal killer Charles Manson. Susan bragged about stabbing Sharon Tate and drinking her blood while wanting to cut out the unborn child of Miss Tate. She also bragged about several other murders she has carried out along with other members of the Manson family. She said when Sharon Tate pleaded for her life and her baby’s life, she looked Sharon Tate in the eye and said “Look Bitch, I have no mercy for you!” then she hacked her to death with a knife. I went to visit Susan twice at Frontera Women’s Prison in Southern California. Susan had become born again and now professed Christ as her Lord and savior. I am glad that she is born again, and seemed to be sincere, but that does not give her an excuse to be let out of prison. She can serve the Lord inside probably better then if she were free by leading other women to Christ who is incarcerated.

Susan complained to me about not having any freedom and that being incarcerated, at that time it was 25 years, now it is 33 years, was long enough. She complained about her “harsh” conditions; about not being able to have the freedom of sitting on her own porch and turning on a porch light of her own. She complained about how another prisoner took cuts in front of her in the chow line. Since Susan has been incarcerated, she has been married twice, once to an older eccentric millionaire and now to a lad 20 years her junior, James Whitehouse who just finished law school, and is practicing law, while promising Susan he will get her out of prison. Susan told me to be sure and check with her before I come to see her, so as to not interfere with her time she gets to spend with her husband on their conjugal visits. That’s right, I said conjugal! Susan explained to me that James Whitehouse gets to come spend the weekend with her at the prison, and they get to stay in a trailer and have sex all weekend, and all she has to do is show up for prisoner count twice a day and the rest of the time is theirs! All of this at the taxpayers expense.

If we do not take steps now to bring back the chain gangs, then I am afraid our crime rate will continue to rise and our prison system will become like Sweden’s in the future. Sweden does not believe in hard punishment for criminals. They only advocate rehabilitation, using the philosophy that the criminal has been a poor misfortunate misguided soul that just needs a hand up to make him a productive citizen. In Sweden, a person can commit murder or any other crime and the most he or she can possibly get is 10 years confinement. The prison system of Sweden is the biggest joke in the world. There are no cafeterias, and the prisoners get to order out their food from local restaurants 3 times a day. If they don’t like something, they can send it back. They get a TV in their cell, and a radio. They get a small icebox to store drinks and snacks in. If they want to get a degree or go to medical or law school, Sweden will let them go to school while in prison, and many come out with degrees. A free college education is the price they pay for their crimes. If one were going to commit a crime, the best place to do so would be Sweden. They also have career guidance counselors available to help them decide on a life long profession. Oh yes, did I mention in addition to all of this, the prisoners get the use of free Internet?

Act now before we become a complete disgrace like the nation of Sweden! Get those criminals out of those cells, away from those TV sets, and put them on road gangs, shackled, chained, pick and shovel in hand, and working hard! That is rehabilitation! Mean guards with shotguns and bloodhounds and maybe even a blacksnake whip, is what is needed, not guidance counselors, educational programs, and conjugal visits paid for at the taxpayers expense!

Now let’s get to writing our lawmakers today, so we can hear singing to the sound of those picks and shovels hitting the rocks! “Get to work Convict!” “Yes Sir Boss!” That’s what I want to hear!
