Oil Companies And Looters Are The Same

Yesterday I was with one of my friends drinking a pitcher of iced tea on the Riverfront, south of Tulsa in the Jenks area on the Arkansas river and we were discussing the huge oil companies gouging the public. By the way, we rode our bikes down there. Gas is way to high priced to be burning for recreational trips. My friend Andy, used to date a woman named Karen who is a big executive for Phillips/Conoco Oil in Bartlesville, north of Tulsa, Oklahoma. I never liked Karen much back when they were dating. She kept Andy away from his friends and seemed pushy, domineering, and rude. She was always on a schedule, and flaunted her money according to Andy and my short observations of her seemed to support that theory. The first and only time I met her I was 10 minutes late to have dinner with her and Andy, and she was looking at her watch when I walked in. Karen looked at me and said, "We have a schedule to keep so we already ordered but we can still give you 15 minutes. I guess you will just be on your own because we are going to have to leave." You see her schedule was she went by the clock and had a rule that her kids went to bed at a certain time, etc. There was no time for friends in their relationship, unless of course, they were her friends. Anyway, she was having problems with Andy in their relationship because she was used to the "jet set" life of an oil company executive. She made it clear to Andy that her priorities in life was her job first, her kids second, and then him. (I wonder where God fits in?) In the 15 minutes she afforded me, I heard all about her trips all around the world, as well as how much she hated Oklahoma and then it was time to leave. I never saw her again after that and didn't care to either.

She had lived in Houston and was transferred to Oklahoma and she had met Andy through one of the computer dating services. Her and Andy dated quite a few months and they talked about marriage, however Karen made it perfectly clear to Andy that she was hoping to be transferred back to Houston. Karen said to Andy that if they married then he would have to quit his job, where he works at American Airlines and come follow her. This was not open to negotiation. It didn't matter to Ms. Oil Exec that Andy is an inspector at American Airlines, and has been there almost 20 years. Nor did it didn't matter to her that Andy has property and a house that he purchased here in Tulsa. It had to be her way or the highway. Andy did the wise thing and told the rich oil lady to "take a hike."

This oil lady still stays in touch with Andy's sister-in-law and was apparently bragging to the sister-in-law just the other day about all of the investments she is making and all the money she is getting now that oil and gas prices are soaring through the roof. She said she is richer now then she has ever been and she is excited that the prices are sky high! Yes, the rich witch is getting rich while the working class suffers each time we go to the gasoline pump. This woman is a prime example of how the big oil executives screw over the working class and that there is no need for these high prices that are destroying the American way of life.

I heard that T. Boone Pickens, that rich oil billionaire in Texas says that Americans have gotten by with cheap gas prices for too long. He said the prices will never come down again so we might as well get used to it. Pickens says that to lower prices on gasoline would be a mistake and that we need to pay more and drive smaller cars and get rid of the big SUVs and trucks Americans are spoiled with. He says Americans are so wasteful that they brought all of this on themselves. He thinks we should all drive little tiny cars like they do in Europe. While it is true that Americans have been wasteful, as we consume 25% of the world's oil right here in the USA, I would be willing to bet that Mr. Pickens doesn't drive a little small car. Heck no! Those big oil boys are telling us to sell our bigger cars and drive little cars while at the same time they are all driving around in huge limousines! Hypocrites!

According to Bill O'Reilly, Conoco made 7.64 Billion in profits this past year. The head of OXY Oil, made 31 million in salary last year. Chevron made 4.1 billion last year in profits alone.

The bottom line is the oil company people are getting rich and gloating about it while the working class is suffering and businesses are going bankrupt. While all of this is happening these rich monopoly-capitalist trash are gouging our nation! They jack up the prices on gas, based on the local market. Price gouging, and price fixing, makes the oil companies no different then the looters who looted New Orleans after the hurricane. There is plenty of gas in reserves that haven't even been touched. The oil companies used Hurricane Katrina as an excuse to loot the American working class, by raising prices in some areas to 6 dollars a gallon! There was no need to raise the prices because the oil reservoirs were not damaged by the hurricane anyway. The fat cats just saw this as an opportunity to make more so they can get back to playing the "Ewing's of Dallas" lifestyle they claim they have missed out on for several years! The politicians are in the hip pocket of the oilmen so they haven't even lifted a finger to put a stop to all of this. And listen here people, until the American consumer gets up off their butts and says "I'm mad as hell and I am not going to take it anymore" and joins in a united boycott effort, we will keep paying more and more for gas and heat and making those Ewing boys a heck of a lot richer! Old J.R. would be proud!

My brother Terry Clary is the Oklahoma State President of the United Auto Workers of America. He organized a protest the other day in front of the State Capitol Building in Oklahoma City. He asked Oklahoman's to join him in a boycott and to not buy gas the next day in an effort to get the oil companies to stop looting the public. Do you think people followed that advice? No they didn't, so nothing was accomplished and it won't be until people get serious and mad enough to stop paying these high prices.

Bill O'Reilly of FOX News, got the ball rolling too against Big Oil and has a great solution. He's not happy about the price of gas and he's making sure everyone knows it.

"America's failure to conserve energy is a disgrace and the Bush administration has done little to encourage conservation," O'Reilly said. "This country uses 25% of all the world's oil as we hop around in gas-guzzling cars and generally waste energy all day long. We have to stop that."

"There's no question in my mind that OPEC and the oil companies are gouging us simply because they can! So, let's buy less gas. In fact. let's buy no gas on Sundays. The U. S. A. should have a gas-free Sundays campaign between now and Christmas. None of us should buy gas on our day of rest."

"The oil companies and OPEC only make money only if we buy their stuff. If we cut back even 10% on energy buying, they'll get hurt. Let's all do it. If we don't, the national economy will totter and we'll all be poorer. Now, last night Talking Points called for U. S. oil companies to voluntarily give up 20% of their profits in this very tough time by lowering gas prices."

You want to know how much the oil companies are gouging you? Well, according to Mr. O'Reilly, OPEC has a cost of $4.00 per barrel of oil, which they are now selling for $70.00 per barrel! That's not looting?

I would be willing to bet that the looters that run the oil companies will not take Mr. O up on his suggestion. Let's face it. Those swine that are hogging up all of our money and looting America would never consider bringing home 8 million a year instead of ten million per year! Why that would be disastrous! They may have to postpone one or two vacations and dinner parties! I mean what would the Vanderbilt's who live in the next mansion down the road think?!

You know, maybe those rich oil people may someday wish they would have listened to Mr. O, if the American people decide to come with their pitchforks and torches! I think of how Old King Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette were living high on the hog and eating cake, throwing lavish parties while the people of France were suffering. Louis and Antoinette were gorging themselves at a sumptuous banquet while all around them their pinch-faced subjects held their empty stomachs and gazed hungrily at the food. The legend went that when Marie Antoinette was asked how could she eat so well wasting food and having parties when the people of France were starving , she allegedly pointed to a cake and laughed while saying, "Let them eat cake!" Well she soon regretted that statement when the peasants she so despised came and introduced her and King Louis to a guillotine and she literally lost her head.

Maybe not literally (then again) , but figuratively it's time for heads to roll if these oil bigwigs don't cut the working class some slack! I mean in Louisiana it is legal to "stop" looters by whatever means necessary! The oil companies are no different then the looters. Get those pitchforks out and the torches lit!
